BRIEF
INTRODUCTION TO THE INSTITUTE
Shaolin Temple Civil and Wushu Institute is located 500m east to Shaolin Temple , facing Mt.
Shaoshi, backing on Wuru Peak, leaning eastward on Mt. Songshan; it is
surrounded by the mounts with perfect scenery. Because the national highway No.207
pass by its gate, the transportation is very convenient.

The institute
that adopt fully enclosed and semi-military management, has been authorized by Physical Education Committee (PEC) and Education Committee of the city.
Its primary name is Blue Shield Wushu School. At the beginning of 1998, president Wang
Zongren, one of the ten famous boxers in China, raising fund himself, built the institute, which
include an integrative teaching and office building with 20000 square meters' floor space, a training field of 5000 square meters.
There are also a performing hall,
a dining

hall, a bathroom and a boiled water supplying room etc. facilities in the schoolyard. With perfect coaches, expert culture teachers, we take "cultivating the students with rich knowledge and wonderful kungfu to serve our society" as our aim, take culture lessons and Wushu as our teaching content. In order to reach the goal, the culture courses like primary, middle,
high school courses are
given here; Wushu courses include: serial Wushu action, free boxing, hard and soft
Qigong, training courses for special police, breathing exercises, attacking vital points and so on.
During the over ten years, under all-level leaders' concern, all-circle persons' support and the faculty's joint effort, great achievement has been gained through plenty of hard working. In
July 1997, leaded by Mr. Wang,
we won the first among youth groups in the first session of South Pacific
International Wushu Festival
in Malaysia; in 1980, one of our students got the
first of Youth Group Long Weapon Sort in a provincial game; in 1983, some teachers were evaluated as members of One Thousand National Excellent Physical Teachers.;
in December, 1995, several persons were appraised as outstanding coaches of Henan province by provincial PEC; In December 1996, our
institute was thought as first-grade school by provincial PEC.
In

1997, we went to Singapore and Malaysia representing Shaolin Wushu Monk
delegation; cultivated about 400 students including foreighers. We have
attended Zhengzhou Shaolin Wushu Festival of China several times, and appraised as advanced school in
Wushu performance each year.

General coach Qu Shenying is a real superior with many splendid awards. He won the first in adult long weapon match of
National Wushu Game in November 1995; the first of adult boxing skill in the provincial
Wushu match in May of the same year; in May, 1996, he was promoted as first-class boxer through examination; in
Novmber, the same year he was evaluated as an excellent coach of Henan province by provincial
PEC; in May,1999, our students won two firsts and four seconds of traditional serial action in provincial
Wushu Association Cup; in
september, 1999, we won four blue ribbons, three golden cups, a team second , an award flag in the
Wushu arena match of the first session Gold Overlord Cup of Henan province; in
October, the same year , we got splendid result of 72 firsts, three seconds, a team second, an award flag; and
sent out 300 chucker-outs and coaches.
Looking beyond, we have a long way to go with great obligation , but we are resolved and confident to manage the institute better and better, to make greater achievement in carrying forward Chinese
Wushu.
